Remove anything that would give an employer a reason not to hire you and always remember to follow up with a phone call or email to help put you at the front of the line.

Using a variety of strategies can also help. An alternate strategy might be to reach out to your professional network. Being referred to a business forms a powerful opinion and holds a lot of weight. Think of it like a good review of a restaurant or film. The review helps to reduce the risk involved in investing time and resources (money) in that restaurant or film. So, if you know someone in the industry, get in touch and let them know you’re on the hunt for a job.
