WHY QR CODES ARE A NATURAL FIT FOR CONSTRUCTION

The coronavirus pandemic has seen a massive increase in Quick Response codes, or QR codes by businesses to help prevent large outbreaks of covid-19. In one particular industry, though, they never left. Construction has been using QR codes for the past 10 years. As early as 2012, construction companies began to adopt the technology and used it to link people with information, for marketing purposes and for material and tool tracking.

FINDING YOUR WAY

When everyone is new to a project, finding their way around the site can be difficult. Labelling rooms with QR codes can help workers get to their destination quicker and saves a lot of time in the long run.

PANDEMIC RELATED INSPECTIONS

The role QR codes have played in the pandemic has been important, however, in the construction industry, this role was simply another adaptation of the technology.

Contractors employed various QR approaches to tackle the issues stemming from coronavirus head on. Some implemented third-party systems based on health screening at the project level. Meanwhile, others leveraged their own technologies and adapted QR codes to the new tasks.

By deploying the codes for these new pandemic challenges, companies are seeing even more uses for them in managing their workforce, whether that be tracking who is on site and what job they’re doing.
